Penny, where you walking? Penny, where you walking to, my dear? Penny are you going, going with somebody new my dear? Have you lost your glasses or your mind, because I shouldn’t be so hard to find! I’m the man who’s gonna love ya, standing on the corner just-a watching as you Walk on by Lately I’ve been wandering by myself. Just wandering to nowhere. Wasn’t gonna leave today, but the sunshine was leading me to my front porch stair. Just a few blocks down and to the right, that’s when I saw the most amazing sight! It was the image of ya, standing on the corner just-a waiting to walk on by And there you go, and there you go Stepping out into the street but You didn’t know, you didn’t know The car was coming; streamlined, gunning Hit its mark and kept on running Penny are you breathing? Penny, if you can please do, my dear! Penny help is on the way! Penny! Stay with me! Don’t you give up on me! “Heart rate’s slowing down! We’re losing light…” Why didn’t I do something to save your life? I was daydreaming of your love on the corner, just-a watching as you walk on by Penny, where you walking? Penny, where you walking to, my dear? Penny are you going, going with somebody new my dear? Have you lost your glasses or your mind, because I shouldn’t be so hard to find! I’m the man who’s gonna love ya, standing on the corner just-a hoping that you’ll Walk on by

The beautiful Queen of the Irish hill is done King Thomas picked her up in the old Benz and drove off with the sun He took her to his perfect garden, we’re invited too They wouldn't be pleased to see these green thumbs had all turned blue Carrots, Tomatoes, and lots of potatoes- but not just because our heritage Digging in the earth, I swear I understood what real marriage is Giving a hand to your neighbor, even when you’ve got none to lend The queen embodied her battle-cry, LOA, all the way to the end Fourteen reasons, planted in your backyard 14 reasons, this has to be so hard Fourteen trees, grown so tall Seeds of your love, after all Seeds of your love after all Coca-cola, cookies, and backyard football, Games of checkers that I never won I learned that the roots do the work, while the flowers get the sun But in the dark and in the dirt, there’s love In the dark and in the dirt, there’s love, just like up above Fourteen reasons, planted in your back yard 14 reasons, this has to be so hard Fourteen trees, grown so tall Seeds of your love, after all Seeds of your love after all

Neural Twin 04:27
Lying in the middle of a single bed, listening to the sound of my alarm sing; Mmmm Wondering just how I’m ever gonna reach the door and if it’s even worth arising But the Neural Twin inside my head says, “Get up! Let’s go! Deep breath! I am so proud of you!” Yet my conscious subconsciousness is aware of a heaviness that comes with being Part 1 of 2 4ft. isn’t quite that far. Then, tell me, why is it like jumping from star to star? Standing in the middle of the kitchen here, thinking about my, well, everything; Mmmm Pondering over obscenities and positives and which one of the two will swallow me But the Neural Twin inside my head says, “Shut up! Let it go! Deep breath! I’ll be so proud of you!” Yet my conscious subconsciousness is aware of a heaviness that comes with being Part 1 of 2 Tidal waves, they crash and tower and don’t subside for more than 24 hrs. Holding the handle of a kitchen knife, tenderly caressing my arteries; Mmmm How long have I been standing in the kitchen here? 5 minutes worth accrues like centuries. Then my Neural Twin inside my head says, “Do it. Deep breath. Let go. They’ll be so proud of you!” And my consciousness is fully aware of the heaviness that comes with being Parts 1 & 2 I know he’s a voice and nothing more. I gently put the knife back and close the drawer.

I found you when I returned home Parched and sick to your bones Don't lie and say you've Been up or out of your bed today Why would I give you your keys When you can barely say please Don't lie and say you Won't come back So hopelessly sleepy Our charming conversation Grows increasingly Distant and vague You believe you're in first rate form but You don't become sentimental and warm Don't lie and say you Haven't been with Your very best friend

Change 03:19
Change is something that they said was good when I was growing up. Change is what falls in between the seats of the car. Change comes from some greater design; Nah, fuck it. It just happens. Change out of your shoes and coat ‘cause nobody’s home. Funny the seasons change, but to them it’s just normality; Autumn, she always comes and goes. With all this change in life I wanted you to me my one normality but Autumn, she always comes and goes. Change is what I did to myself so I could simply feel loved Change was gonna fix everything that I thought was wrong Change was gonna make them all feel sorry about then before. Change was gonna take just about a year or so. Whoa. Funny the seasons change, but to them it’s just normality; Autumn, she always comes and goes. With all this change in life I wanted you to me my one normality but Autumn, she always comes and goes, goes. I changed and didn’t see all the good I thought would headstrong come my way. I changed, but still inside me I knew that something was wrong. So one day, I’m at my mirror and say, “Hey boy, I think we need some help.” So now I skate along the border of a human being and a human becoming. It’s so funny the seasons change, but to them it’s just normality; Autumn can pack her shit and go. I’ve changed my mind. In life, I just want truth to be my sole normality ‘cause Autumn will always come and go, starting off warm to abandon you cold as the morning Sun fades Earth from green to gold Change is something that they said was good, but I’m still growing up. Change is what falls in between the seats of the car.

about

Day Off Chicago, Illinois

Day Off is a Chicago-based indie rock band formed by Andrew Milliken (Keyboard), Grant Brown (Guitar/Vox) and Kieran McCabe (Drums/Vox) in the summer of 2017.

Using their only day off from work at a summer stock theater, these lads created a musical coalition (as well as a comedic origin short film) in order to take the Chicago music scene by storm and have fun doing it.
